Faculty & Staff Check-in Survey

September 7, 2021
4 p.m.

Dear Faculty and Staff:

No one can return to New Orleans and to our campuses without a safe place to live. We know that some of you may have experienced significant damage to your home, but we are unsure about the number of individuals who have been so impacted or the extent of the issues they are facing. Please complete this survey so that our ongoing planning can be based on the most accurate information. If you evacuated and do not know the status of your home, we encourage you to contact a neighbor or your landlord to obtain this information.

A few reminders as you plan your return:

  • If you had damage to your personal property, you should file an insurance claim. You may also be eligible to apply to FEMA for assistance and aid.

  • In addition, Tulane has established the Hurricane Ida Employee Relief Assistance Program for those experiencing financial hardship after the storm. This program is open to qualifying, benefits-eligible employees. It offers a $500 grant, as well as a zero-interest loan up to $1,000. For more information, please visit hr.tulane.edu/hurricane-ida. The deadline to apply for assistance under this program is November 1, 2021.

  • For those who are renting:
    – If your landlord tells you that your home has water damage, they should be able to provide you with an estimated time for repair.
    – Know your rights! You can find a list of the Louisiana State Tenant’s Rights and Responsibilities here.

We thank you for taking the time to complete this survey when you may be dealing with so many other issues. Our thoughts go out to all who have suffered damages to their homes and other property. Completing this survey will help us better understand your circumstance and assist us as we prepare for the most successful return to campus possible.
