Updated Building Access for Faculty and Staff

September 8, 2021
3 p.m.

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we continue damage assessments and recovery work on all of our campuses. Currently, we are able to offer faculty and staff access to our uptown and downtown campus buildings. As assessments and repairs are ongoing, please follow the guidelines below for your safety.

Uptown Building Access:

We are extending the dates that faculty and staff may retrieve personal belongings needed for the resumption of virtual classes and remote work. Faculty and staff may enter their uptown offices between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. through Monday, September 13 (including Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12). We strongly encourage employees to enter their offices only once, retrieve their necessities, and depart campus as soon as possible. Parking is only available in the Diboll Parking Garage and spaces are first come, first served. Parking is currently not permitted in the Claiborne Parking Lot nor on campus between Freret and Willow nor on Janet Yulman Way. Howard-Tilton Memorial Library will not be open, and only limited campus services will be available.

Downtown Building Access:

Normal hours of operation and access to downtown buildings, with the exception of 1700 Perdido, will resume on Monday, September 13. Employees who work in those buildings may resume working from those locations. Tidewater, Murphy, Hutchinson, Poydras, and Perdido garages will be open during building hours. The LaSalle, Saratoga, and HEAL garages are also operating as normal. Limited campus services are available.

Damage Reporting:

If you identify damage to your office space or personal belongings upon entering your space, please contact your department administrator/building manager. Exact location (including building, floor, and room number), photos, and a specific description of the damage will be helpful during our assessment and remediation process. To ensure that your report is received, department contacts should collect all damage information into one document or email and forward to Meredith Beers at the end of each day and begin the subject line with “Damage Report.”

Reminders:

Many of our buildings are undergoing remediation and repair; therefore it is imperative that you adhere to all stated safety precautions. To ensure your safety and compliance, TUPD, the Office of Emergency Preparedness & Response, and Facilities Services will monitor buildings during this time. Do not wear loose clothing and jewelry or flip flops and open-toed shoes.

COVID-19 precautions are still in place. Please wear a mask indoors at all times unless in a private office with your door closed.

Facilities Services is currently triaging storm-related repairs. Normal facilities requests will be deferred. Please note that custodial services are also limited at this time on all campuses.

Thank you,

Patrick Norton, Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
