Campus Health Update

Dear Tulane Community:

Campus Health is working to coordinate students’ needs as we deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Campus Health has numerous healthcare providers onsite in Houston assisting with students who evacuated from campus.

  • Students who need medication refills or medications transferred can email Marius Commodore for assistance. It may take up to 48 hours for a response.

    If requesting medication help, please include in your email:
    1. Name of medication, current dosage, and schedule
    2. Name and address of pharmacy for the refill

We are not able to retrieve medications left behind on campus or to ship medications from the Student Health Center at this time.

  • Students with T-SHIP have access to providers across the U.S. During this period, the requirement for referral has been waived, so you can access care in your home community. A list of T-SHIP special services and referral information can be found here.
     
  • You may access and print your health insurance ID card once you have created a username and password to access your UHCSR "MyAccount." Visit the account creation page and follow the on-screen prompts. You may also call United Healthcare Student Resources at (800) 767-0700 to request a health insurance ID card to be mailed to your current address. Please present your card at all healthcare visits.
     
  • All Student Health Center and Counseling Center appointments are cancelled through September 30. Providers with access to Wi-Fi are trying to check and monitor secure messages from students. When possible, we will re-open telehealth appointments to students.
     
  • We encourage all students to complete COVID-19 testing when they arrive at their destination. If you are COVID positive and need to travel to another destination, we recommend you go by car versus other means that could expose others.
     
  • If you test positive for COVID please be sure to report through the COVID-19 Reporting Form. We are closely monitoring cases and have our Contact Tracing team actively managing cases. Students who evacuated to Houston who are COVID-positive should work with the onsite staff for assistance and medical care. If you have questions about isolation or quarantine, please email CHContactTrace@tulane.edu.
     
  • If you were scheduled to complete your COVID-19 vaccine during this closure, you may be able to complete the vaccine series with a local provider; just show them your vaccine card. If you are unable to complete the vaccine series where you are, it is OK to get your 2nd dose when you can return to campus. Questions? Email immunizations@tulane.edu.
     
  • We are actively planning a return to campus COVID testing protocol. When possible, on-campus testing will resume. Watch for future Campus Health updates for more information.
Well-Being Support

During this time, it’s important to take care of yourself. Remember YOU@Tulane is a web-based program offered by Campus Health to provide support to the entire Tulane community. The site provides tools to help manage stress, set goals, promote happiness and well-being, and connect to campus resources.

All Tulane students are welcome to sign up on The Shrink Space, a national provider database to connect with mental health providers all over the U.S. Crisis support resources are available on the Counseling Center website.
