Dear Tulane Community:
Today, the State of Louisiana announced that it has further expanded eligibility for COVID-19 vaccines to include more people who have health conditions that may result in a higher risk of disease. If you are between the ages of 18 and 64 (or 16+ if receiving the Pfizer vaccine) and have one of the conditions listed here, you are now eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccine. If you are pregnant, regardless of age, you are eligible.
Currently, the vaccine supply at the Tulane Vaccine Clinic is very limited. Although we hope to receive more doses in the coming weeks and have sufficient supply for all scheduled second doses, we are certain that the number of eligible individuals in the Tulane community, and other universities with whom we have partnered, will far outstrip our supply in the short run. Because of this, we urge members of the Tulane community who meet the state’s criteria to also seek appointments beyond those offered by our vaccine clinic. Please note that the uptown Health Center for Student Care is not a point of distribution for the COVID-19 vaccine.
Before being vaccinated at the Tulane Vaccine Clinic, an attestation form and a vaccine consent form will need to be completed by each person with any of the qualifying conditions listed on the Louisiana Department of Health site above. Those eligible can make an appointment either through the Tulane Vaccine Clinic or through the more than 400 pharmacies and other provider vaccine locations throughout the state. Eligible Tulanians are also urged to seek vaccine through mass vaccinations locations such as Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and other sites throughout our area.
While the pool of those eligible to receive the vaccine has thankfully been expanded, many Tulane students, faculty and staff are not yet eligible to receive it. As more and more groups become eligible we will keep you informed and do our best to inoculate as many of these individuals as our limited vaccine allotment will allow.

It is imperative that we all continue to do our part to fight the spread of COVID-19. Everyone must remain 100% committed to following our health strategies. We are in this together – all of us need to do our part to keep our community as safe as possible.
This means each of us must continue to:
Get Tested!
Immediately schedule COVID-19 testing each time you receive a new QR code. If you have not received a QR Code please e-mail chtestresults@tulane.edu.
Mask Up!
Face coverings must be worn while outside and inside a university facility or on any university property when in the presence of others (e.g., residence halls, classrooms, common workspaces, etc.). Appropriate use of face coverings is absolutely critical to minimize risks to others near you.
Maintain 6 Feet
Everyone is responsible for maintaining social distancing. This means keeping a minimum of 6 feet between yourself and other people who are not from your household.
Clean Up
This includes very basic steps such as:
- Frequently washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol when hand washing is not possible. Hand sanitizer stations are available throughout all campus buildings.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Cover coughs and sneezes, throw away used tissues and immediately wash hands. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.
- Avoid close contact with others and touching high-contact or frequently touched surfaces.
- Do not share personal items such as phones, computers, food, drink, deodorant, shampoo, soap, hairbrushes or hair dryers.
Remember, if you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 or believe you are a close contact who needs testing, please schedule a telehealth visit with Student Health.
