Vaccine and Immunization Deadline Approaching

July 9, 2021

Dear Students,

The city of New Orleans continues to experience low positivity rates and is cautiously easing COVID-19 restrictions. Tulane is committed to continuing to do our part to decrease the spread of COVID-19; we know that vaccinating our campus community and testing are key to a successful fall semester.

Student COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement – Due July 15

Students are required to submit proof that they have received the COVID-19 vaccine OR submit a declination form via the Campus Health Patient Portal by July 15. Please visit our website for instructions on how to submit COVID-19 vaccination records or watch our helpful YouTube video below.

Student Immunization Compliance Requirement – Due July 15

The state of Louisiana and Tulane University require students to provide proof of immunity for certain diseases including:

  • measles/mumps/rubella
  • tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis
  • meningitis
  • tuberculosis screening or testing

Your health care provider must document ALL requirements on the Tulane Immunization Compliance Form found on our immunization compliance website. You are required to submit completed immunization compliance forms through the Patient Portal.

Failure to meet the requirements listed above will result in a registration hold placed on your account, which will prevent you from making any changes to your class schedule and/or registering for future classes. Please submit these records by the July 15 deadline.

International Students

International Students should upload a copy of their COVID-19 vaccine documentation into the Campus Health Patient Portal. We are currently accepting most international vaccines. You will be contacted if your vaccine is not accepted and given directions on how to receive a vaccine when you arrive on campus. If you are unable to get vaccinated prior to your arrival in the U.S., you should schedule your vaccine series as soon as you arrive in the U.S. Failure to report your vaccine status or schedule your vaccine upon arrival in the U.S. may result in registration holds.

All current Tulane policies related to COVID-19 will apply to you once you are on campus. If you are not vaccinated prior to arrival, you will be responsible for following the appropriate campus guidance.

International travelers should follow all current CDC guidance. You are responsible for any U.S. travel quarantine and should plan accordingly, based on your situation and the guidance at the time of your travel. Current CDC Travel Guidance by location is available here.

Updated Masking Guidance

In compliance with Louisiana Department of Health and CDC Guidance, Tulane will no longer require fully vaccinated students, faculty, staff, visitors, or vendors to wear masks indoors or outdoors while on any Tulane campus — including residence halls, classrooms, dining halls, offices, recreation centers, COVID-19 testing centers, and campus buildings.

Those who have not received the vaccine are required to continue wearing masks on all Tulane University campuses and property.
