A Special Day at Tulane

July 2, 2021

Dear Tulane Community:

It will be a reunion, as many colleagues see each other in-person for the first time in almost a year and a half. It will be a period of adjustment for many as they transition back to a new, and yet familiar, routine. It will be a moment to celebrate and a time to contemplate what it means to be a community. It will be different things to different people, but one thing is for certain – Tuesday, July 6, 2021, the date for all Tulane employees to return to on-site work, will not be an ordinary day.

This day will mark the triumph of the Tulane spirit. It will be a reflection of what your dedication, determination, expertise and hard work have made possible. You have brought Tulane through one of the most challenging periods in its history. You have advanced our mission, making us national leaders in the battle against COVID-19 through research, safety protocols, testing, vaccine distribution and more. We have not only survived, but thrived, thanks to you.

We will begin July 6, with gatherings at each of our campuses from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. These will both welcome employees returning to campus and celebrate those whose duties required them to be on-site throughout the past 15 months. These gatherings will be an opportunity for you to join with your friends and colleagues for coffee, juice, breakfast pastries and good cheer, as we embark on a new era at Tulane and return together to our beloved campuses and familiar spaces. Gatherings will take place in front of McAlister Auditorium, in the lobbies of 1555 Poydras, the JBJ, Tidewater and Murphy Buildings, as well as at the National Primate Research Center in Covington.**

It will be a new day as we return to working together, side by side, on our beautiful campuses to meet the challenges, embrace the opportunities and build the future of Tulane.

Robin Forman, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost
Patrick Norton, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

**As we get closer to the fall semester, we will also host a welcome back gathering for our extraordinary faculty who are the centerpiece of our educational and research enterprise.
