Faculty & Staff Accommodations

March 15, 2021

Dear Tulane Faculty and Staff:

As was recently announced, we expect that the COVID-19 vaccine will be available to all faculty and staff no later than the end of the spring 2021 semester and to all students sometime in the summer or possibly late spring, depending on vaccine supply.

With the increasing availability of the vaccine and the corresponding reduction in risk, we believe that Tulane’s learning and work environment will return, for the most part, to pre-COVID standard operations for fall 2021. Temporary COVID-19 related job modifications, including remote work, which were based on heightened risks from the virus, may end during the spring. Of course, all of our planning for the remainder of the semester and the fall is dependent on the state of public health and is subject to local, state and federal guidelines, as well as recommendations from our own experts.

We urge all faculty and staff to seek vaccines as soon as they become eligible under the state’s expanded guidelines, which currently make the vaccine available to as many as 3 in 4 adults in Louisiana. Options to receive the vaccines include the Tulane Vaccine Clinic or more than 400 pharmacies and other provider vaccine locations throughout the state. Eligible Tulanians are also urged to seek vaccine through mass vaccinations locations such as Ernest N. Morial Convention Center and other sites throughout our area.

Faculty and staff who are unable to receive the vaccine for medical reasons or who have other ADA-related concerns should contact the Office for Campus Accessibility (ADAaccess@tulane.edu; (504) 247-1774) for an individualized consultation regarding reasonable accommodations.

Faculty and staff with religious considerations related to the vaccine may email employeerelations@tulane.edu for an individualized consultation regarding religious accommodations with a Human Resources Business Partner.
