A Community Like No Other

Tulanians achieved a diverse array of honors, including prestigious scholarships, research recognitions, and distinguished accolades, contributing to a culture of excellence.

First of its Kind for a Tulanian

Kyla Denwood (’21) was named Tulane’s first-ever recipient of the prestigious Donald M. Payne International Development Graduate Fellowship Program. This highly competitive program, which is sponsored by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), provides fellows with approximately $104,000 in benefits to pursue graduate study in the field of international development or other USAID-adjacent fields. For this year’s competition, fewer than six percent of applicants received the award.

Outstanding Scholarships

The Newcomb-Tulane College Office of Fellowship Advising works closely with students and alumni to pursue nationally competitive awards. In fall 2022, three applicants — Sahil Inaganti (’23), Humzah Kahn (’20), and Henry Walther (’20) — were named finalists for the Rhodes Scholarship, Inaganti was named a finalist for the Marshall Scholarship and Zach Rubin (’23) was recognized as a finalist for the Schwarzman Scholarship. Inaganti was also named a Udall Scholar, Tulane’s first since 1997, in spring 2022.

Ki Finch

STEM Recognition

Ki Finch (’24), a first-generation college student majoring in biochemistry with minors in psychology and mathematics, was selected for the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship. The scholarship is a highly competitive national award that recognizes outstanding undergraduate researchers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields.

Tulane mathematician Lisa Fauci is one of 120 scholars and 23 international members elected to the National Academy of Sciences.

Prestigious Academy

Lisa Fauci, PhD, who brings to life concepts such as numerical analysis, fluid dynamics and mathematical biology, was elected to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences in recognition of her distinguished and continuing achievements in original research. Fauci, the Pendergraft Nola Lee Hayes Professor of Mathematics at the School of Science and Engineering, is collaborating on an international project involving the evolution of sperm cell shape and motion.
