Tech Day is always a great time and this year’s sixth annual Tech Day proved to be no exception. With a solid turnout, people went from software presentations to the vendor floor to guest speakers to the video game competition. The theme Open Learning permeated the event. Keynote speaker Anthony Vantaggiato and guests from Northwestern University’s Digital Initiatives team explored effective ways to keep students interacting with open technologies and have that engagement carry over into the physical classroom.
Technology Services Roadmap 2013-2014
Technology Services Leadership updated attendees on major projects in the year ahead for Technology Services including the news that Technology Services has been awarded a nearly half-million dollar grant from the National Science Foundation to construct a dedicated high-speed Science Network. Attendees received an update on the Technical Support and Network Operations Center, the implementation of the Human Capital Management system (HCM), planned network upgrades and this Fall's installation of Internet2 Net+ SIP phones on the uptown campus.
Prizes were in no short supply. Our poster contest winners Patrick Burtchaell and Justin Robert both won subscriptions to Adobe’s Creative Cloud and ten other attendees walked home with prizes including a Samsung Galaxy Tablet, Dell laptops, an iPad Mini, an iPod Touch and Microsoft Office Software.
Many thanks to our sponsors and all the volunteers. Get ready for Tech Day 2014 on September 26, 2014!
