Presidential Search Committee Announces New Faculty Member

The Presidential Search Committee announced today the appointment of Associate Professor Dr. Thomas Luongo to the Presidential Search Committee. Dr. Luongo is Eva-Lou Joffrion Edwards Newcomb Professor at Tulane and teaches medieval European history, with a specialization in medieval and Renaissance Italian history, as well as topics in pre-modern religion. He is also the Director of the University's Honors Program.

The announcement was made by co-chairs Rick Rees and Andy Wisdom. After receiving and carefully considering feedback from the University Senate, the President's Faculty Advisory Committee, and the Faculty and Staff Town Hall meetings, Rees and Wisdom said, "the Committee determined that Dr. Luongo's deep involvement with undergraduate education at Tulane would provide a valued perspective to the Committee and to the candidates. We welcome him on the Committee."

The Presidential Search Committee is in the process of identifying the successor to Tulane's president Scott Cowen who previously announced his plans to retire June 30, 2014.
