Families of current Tulane University students and Green Wave alumni from all years past will return to New Orleans Oct. 17-23, as Tulane kicks off Homecoming, Family Weekend and “Wave ’11,” an All-Alumni Reunion party. Numerous special events will take place leading up to the Homecoming football game, which pits the Green Wave against Memphis on Oct. 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Mercedes Benz Superdome. Before the game, from 11 a.m.- 2:30 p.m., there will be music, food and fun at a tailgating party in Champions Square.
Homecoming Weekend's many other highlights include tours, artistic demonstrations, musical performances and special guest speakers, including Terry O’Neill, president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), NASA Astronaut and Tulane alumnus Doug Hurley, and Paul Rice, Founder and CEO of Fair Trade USA. Many Homecoming events are open to the public, including a pep rally and fireworks display on the Lavin-Bernick Center Quad on Friday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m., followed by a free concert by Big Sam’s Funky Nation.
The Helluva Hullabaloo Auction & Party, benefiting Tulane student-athletes,
will be held Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. The online auction at http://riptide.me/YL is
now live and continues through Oct. 27, offering items such as a free trip
to Hawaii to watch the Green Wave football team, 2011 World Series tickets, dinner with Mary Matalin and James Carville, and many more prizes.
