Insider: Look no further for Thanksgiving plans!

Students opt to stay in town during the Thanksgiving break for a multitude of reasons. And those who do aren’t short of plans, thanks to the Tulane Office of Student Affairs.

Happy Thanksgiving!

A Black Friday shopping trip, camping, a walking tour, dinners and a jewelry-making party are all items on the list of events planned over the course of the holiday week.

“Thanksgiving’s proximity to fall break, parent weekend and winter break just may not be the best time for another flight home,” says Penny Wyatt, director of orientation and student transitions. “Some students want to use the break to finish end-of-the-semester projects and papers or get a head start on final exam studying.”

Several off-campus events have been scheduled so that students won’t feel glued to the dorm rooms. Wyatt says that the second most important thing to selecting one of the fun outings is registering online.

“Advanced registration is required for all off-campus events since those activities involve transportation and some offer meals or refreshments,” says Wyatt. “So students should sign up soon to make sure they get a space.”

Here’s a look at what’s happening this week:

Tuesday (Nov. 20), 6 p.m. — Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner, Lavin-Bernick Center Qatar Ballroom.
Wednesday (Nov. 21), 12:30 – 4 p.m. — New Orleans Myth-Busting Walking Tour.
Wednesday (Nov. 21), 10:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. — String a Bead and Pizza Party.  
Thursday (Nov. 22), 1 p.m. — Thanksgiving Day Dinner, LBC, 1st floor.
Friday (Nov. 23), 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. — Black Friday Shopping on Magazine Street.
Saturday and Sunday (Nov. 24 – Nov. 25) — Cajun Overnight 101 camping trip.
