Spring break isn’t just a break from class, but a retreat from the rush of college life in a big city. Take a break from those philosophy books and live like Thoreau and other figures you’ve been reading about about by spending a few reflective, regenerative days in nature. Challenging but rewarding, you will learn to live minimally, pack essentials into a single bag, cook tasty food, and live life on a trail. We will rise with the sun and fall asleep under the stars, hiking, cooking, and bonding in between. During this trip we will hike the beautiful Eagle-Rock Loop through Arkansas’ Ouachita national forest. This challenging trail winds through the scenic mountains of western Arkansas and will be accompanied by food breaks and, perhaps, a few hours hanging or swimming at the waterhole-a perfect end to a long day of hiking. Backpackers must be physically fit and provide their own footwear (sturdy hiking boots). Trip cost includes transportation, backcountry meals, equipment, instruction, and leadership.

Cost $250
