GiST is open to 5th through 7th grade girls to give them the opportunity to interact with faculty and students in STEM. One of the goals for this program is for young girls to experience the collaborative nature of science and engineering and observe the equal status that men and women have in STEM, so it would be great if we can have both male and female volunteers! We will have volunteers at the morning welcome table in the Boggs lobby from 7:15 to 9:30 AM and to help run the workshop sessions throughout the rest of the day. Our workshop is titled "Exploring Your Brain" and introduces students to the nervous system through experiments and examination of real nervous system tissue. Volunteers from TUNA get to interact with these specimen, too! A Doodle poll will be created and mailed out to all of you members closer to the date of the event so that you can sign up for shifts.
