Title: “International Justice and Nationalism: War Criminals at the Hague”

Bio: Izabela Steflja is a Professor of Practice in International Development at Tulane University. She hold a DPhil in Political Science from University of Toronto, and an MA in Political Science from McGill University. Previously, she was the Simons Post-doctoral Fellow in Dialogue on International Law and Human Security at Simon Fraser University (2014-2015), and a Pre-doctoral Fellow in International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (2013). Her research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of international development, comparative politics, and conflict and post-conflict studies. In particular, she studies transitional justice, civil war, nationalism, and identity and politics. Dr. Steflja has conducted extensive fieldwork in Eastern and Central Africa and the Balkans. Her current book manuscript examines local perceptions of international criminal tribunals. In addition, she is working on a project that investigates female perpetrators of crimes against humanity.
