Biography: Blanche Cook is a historian, professor of history, and author of a three-volume biography about Eleanor Roosevelt: Eleanor Roosevelt: Volume One 1884-1933; Eleanor Roosevelt: Volume 2, The Defining Years, 1933-1938; and Eleanor Roosevelt, Volume 3: The War Years and After, 1939-1962. She is a Distinguished Professor of History and Women’s Studies at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York, as well as at the CUNY Graduate Center. She received the 2010 Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement from the Publishing Triangle. Cook contributes frequently to newspapers and periodicals, including The New York Times, and has received numerous awards for her work.

Fridays at Newcomb is a weekly speaker series hosted by Newcomb College Institute. Each event is free and open to the public, and lunch is served.
