Coronavirus Supervisor Guidance

January 29, 2020

To All Supervisors:

The Tulane University Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response and Campus Health are monitoring the ongoing global situation with the novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that originated in Wuhan, China. As a global research institution, we have faculty, staff, and students that are from China and/or are conducting research and studies in China.

All faculty, staff and student travelers returning from China are required to contact the Tulane Student Health Center at 504-862-8121 during business hours or 855-487-0290 (after hours) within 24 hours of their arrival in the US from China and prior to returning to campus to arrange and complete a medical screening.  Supervisors are not authorized to require any faculty, staff, or students to quarantine or isolate.

If a healthcare professional determines that a traveler who has returned from China may be ill, then the healthcare professional will follow Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidance for isolating the patient.
