New Orleans Phase 3.1 – Student Gatherings

The city of New Orleans continues to experience low positivity rates and is cautiously easing some COVID restrictions. In partnership with the city, Tulane is committed to continuing our public health safety protocols. We know we’re all stronger when we work TUgether.

A major part of our ongoing commitment to one another and to the city is maintaining our requirements regarding student gatherings. Students are required to limit gatherings to no more than 15 people. Even in small gatherings, everyone should wear masks and maintain at least 6 feet between themselves and others.
Flu Shots

Another flu season is here and getting a flu shot is more important than ever. The best protection against the flu is to receive the vaccine each year. It takes about two weeks for antibodies to develop to protect individuals against flu, so we encourage the Tulane community to get vaccinated early.

No-Cost Flu Shots for Students

Flu shots will be available on both the Downtown and Uptown campuses during Campus Health’s annual flu outreach clinic. The cost of the flu shot will be billed to the student’s insurance. Most insurance plans cover the cost of flu shots. Campus Health will not collect co-pays or additional fees from students.

To schedule a flu shot, students should visit the Campus Health Flu Prevention web page.

Flu Shots for Employees

All Tulane employees are strongly encouraged to receive the flu vaccine. Flu vaccines are a covered benefit with no out-of-pocket expense to employees who participate in any of Tulane’s medical plans through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana (BCBS). Employees who missed the September flu shot events on campus are encouraged to visit a pharmacy that administers the vaccine or contact their regular healthcare provider.

COVID-19 Student Testing Compliance

We are closely monitoring COVID testing schedules and want to remind students that not following your testing schedule is not only dangerous, it is also a Student Conduct violation. Students can schedule testing appointments via the email prompt they receive or by logging into the online portal. You can find more information about testing and other COVID-19 resources online.

Thank you,
