General Rafael E. Melgar Collection Inaugural Event & Exhibit

Join us for a talk, exhibit and reception to celebrate the public opening of the General Rafael E. Melgar Collection of manuscripts and photographs at The Latin American Library.  Javier Garcíadiego, distinguished Mexican historian and President of El Colegio de México, will deliver a talk on the Mexican Revolution and its consolidation in subsequent decades.  In that eventful period in the history of Mexico, General Melgar served in a variety of political posts at the national and regional level.  More details on Professor Garcíadiego’s talk will be forthcoming as the date approaches.  The title of professor Garciadiego’s talk is  “Rafael Melgar and Twentieth-Century Mexican History.” This is the initial event honoring the Memorandum of Understanding between El Colegio de México and Tulane University signed in October 2011.
