Newcomb Pottery in Context: Interpreting Usefulness & Beauty in the Bayou State

Newcomb Art Gallery hosts Dr. Beverly Brandt at the kick-off of the lecture series about Newcomb Pottery, in conjunction with their current exhibition "Women, Art, and Social Change: The Newcomb Pottery Enterprise". Dr. Brandt will be addressing concepts and issues common to the Arts and Crafts Movement in England and America, including the growing role of women as artists and entrepreneurs, and that of education for both makers and consumers. She will also be examining links between Boston and Newcomb College.
