Vacation Transfer

The vacation transfer pool is designed to make additional paid leave available to staff employees who experience a catastrophic health event by permitting eligible employees to voluntarily surrender their accrued, but unused, vacation leave for the benefit of such other employees.

A "catastrophic health event " means an unexpected medical emergency which is an extremely severe, life threatening, health-related medical condition for which a physician has certified the condition is likely to result in the inability of staff employee or the staff employee’s family member to perform work for 5 days or more due to the unexpected medical emergency which is an extremely severe, life threatening, health related medical condition and is covered by family and medical leave.

Vacation hours are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.  Vacation hours may be transferred to a specific employee.  Unused transferred vacation hours will be forfeited and will not be returned to the employee that surrendered the vacation hours.

Solicitation of vacation hours for transfer is prohibited.
