Q: I need to mail/ship something how can I do this?

Q: How do I know when I have a package?

A: A green package notification card will be placed in your mailbox notifying you that Mail Operations has received a package on your behalf. You must have your mailbox key to open your mailbox

Q: I don't have my mailbox key, but I have mail or a package notification card in my mailbox, Can I get someone to check my box for me?

A: No. Mail Operations staff will not open or check your mailbox for you under any circumstances.

Q: OK, I have my green package notification card. How do I get my package?

A: Bring your package notification card to the Bruff counter along with your student ID (Splash Card). Hand your notification card and student ID to whomever is working the counter, they will retrieve your package, scan it out and ask you to sign for your parcel.

Q: I lost my mailbox key, what do I do?

A: If you have lost your key, you can purchase a replacement at the Mail Operations service counter. The cost of replacement keys are $30 cash or Tulane Debit (no Accounts Receivable). If you find your key within 5 working days you can get a full refund, by returning the replacement with your purchase receipt. (refunds will not be given without a receipt).

Q: I lost my green package notification card. What do I do?

A: If you lose your package notification card, you will have to complete an authorization for package release form. However if the counter is busy you may be required to wait, as students with Package Notification cards will get priority. All occurrences of lost package notification cards will be recorded and kept in your permanent record. Frequent occurrences may be reported to the office of Student Conduct for further action and counseling.

Q: I tracked my package and it says that it has been received, but I don’t have a green card in my mailbox; where is my package?

A: Mail Operations receives mail and packages in bulk and needs time to effectively sort all incoming shipments. If you have been notified by a third party carrier (FedEx, UPS) that your shipment has been received, but you do not have a green package notification card in your mailbox, then your package is still being processed by Mail Operations. Be patient, no action is required on your part. Once your package has been processed you will receive a green package notification card and you may then pick up your packages.

Q: I'm sick and cannot leave my dorm can I get my roommate to pick up a package for me?

A: We would prefer you to pick up your packages in person, however if you are sick you may authorize (in writing) another student to pick up your shipments for you.  You MUST email mailbox@tulane.edu and name the student that will pick up your shipments.

Q: I need to mail/ship something how can I do this?

A: It depends. Mail Services does NOT provide retail outbound shipping. If you need to ship a parcel Mail Services recommends you go to FedEx Office in the LBC for all of your outbound shipping needs. If you need to mail a letter via the Post Office, Mail Services provides a stamp vending machine inside Bruff Commons. The Mail Services staff will gladly assist you in determining the correct postage required for your letter. Please note that the USPS has restricted stamp mail to items 13 ounces or less. For more specialized USPS services Mail Services recommends that you visit the nearby Post Office Located in Dana Center on Loyola University's Campus. Your BEST option for Post Office shipping is Click-N-Ship. Once you have prepared Mail Services will accept your prepaid USPS shipments for outbound delivery.
