TUWA Activity Groups for Fall 2012

Activity Group participants must be TUWA members and have paid the annual dues, with the exception of Newcomers.  Individual group fees may apply and are noted accordingly.  If any other activities interest you, please contact the Activity Group Chair, Cathy Lacker at 985.630.2117.  New groups may be created depending on the expressed interest each year.

ART AND ARTISTS

Meetings throughout the year related to art, including visits to galleries and museums.

BRIDGE

Meets every Wednesday from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the homes of the members.  Members bring a bag lunch and the hostess of the day provides dessert and refreshments.  We play "party bridge" and would gladly add new members to the group.  We would like to invite anyone who likes to play.  If you have not played the game for a long time and would like to refresh your skills, we would like to set up a special Refresher Table.

APRIL'S CRAFTY LADIES

Members usually meet the first Tuesday of the month, from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, at the Newcomb Hall Faculty Lounge.  We share crafts and craft-making techniques with other attendees.

CULINARY HISTORY

Our group meets on days determined by group members.

DAYTIME BOOK GROUP

Members usually meet in the morning on the third Thursday of the month at homes or resturants to exchange books and enjoy friendship and refreshments or lunch.

EVENING BOOK GROUP

Members usually meet on the second Wednesday of the month from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm in the Newcomb Faculty Lounge, 114 Newcomb Hall.  We primarily read contemporary novels with occasional sprinklings of classics or short stories.

GARDEN

Meets every third Tuesday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Molly Keenan's home.

MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS

Members usually meet on Saturdays or Sundays for special outings with their school-aged daughters or graddaughters (4 to 12 years old).  The group meets several times a year for special outings to entertain and/ or educate.  Members are notified of the date and time of each meeting.

PLAY GROUP

Mothers and children (infants through pre-school) will meet on a day to be determined at 9:00 am at Danneel Park for parent-child interaction and play time.  This group also makes field trips to such places as the Audubon Zoo and The Children's Museum.

WOMEN IN ACTION

Members meet at the Elmwood Campus of Continuing Studies, room 207.  We will hear speakers on local and women's issues, usually on the last Friday of the month, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.  Please bring questions and a brown bag lunch!  For the most recent speaker information, click on the group name.
