McAlister Auditorium

McAlister Auditorium is the world's largest self-suspended concrete dome, as well as New Orleans' largest regularly scheduled cinema. Built in 1940, funds for building were bequeathed by Mrs. Amelie McAlister Upshur. The building is a memorial to her mother, Mrs. Armantine Reynaud McAlister. The architects were Favrot and Reed and Gervais Favrot was the builder. The facility is used for concerts, premieres, and speakers.
