The Merryl and Sam Israel Jr. Environmental Sciences Building was completed in 1999; Wilson Architects and Payette Associates, architects. The building houses a 52,000-square-foot research center designed to have a minimum impact on the environment. The facility includes non-toxic paints and finishes, recycling stations and state-of-the-art solar-activated lighting systems. Additional "green" features include natural ventilation, interactive sun reflectors, which bring sunlight into various rooms, and recycled concrete and wood.
