The ShareStream Project is a pilot project being run over the Fall 2009 semester. The goal of the pilot project is to successfully test and effectively access streaming audio and video both from within the Blackboard/myTulane learning management system and directly as a standalone repository for digital asset collections.

Pilot project participants include members from the following Tulane organizations: ·

• A. B. Freeman School of Business - Media Services
• English Department - Digital Composition Classes
• Howard-Tilton Memorial Library - Hogan Jazz Archives
• School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine

The ShareStream system within our project consists of three components - the ShareStream server, the streaming server, and the lecture capture listening/encoding server. The ShareStream server acts as the repository and cataloging server for digital assets. The streaming server is running Flash 7, and the Lecture Capture server monitors various lecture clients for ingesting and encoding to the repository when complete.
