Praxis

 

The Praxis exams are national licensure exams developed by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and required by a variety of states for initial teacher licensure.

  PRAXIS I

  • A series of tests in reading, writing, and mathematics which verify candidates' college-level proficiencies
  • TPCP can waive Prasis I scores if a candidate has:
    • An ACT composite score of 22 or above OR
    • A combined SAT math/verbal score of 1030 or above OR
    • A professional degree

 PRAXIS II (Content) 

  • Subject area tests which verify candidates' content area knowledge
  • Specific test requirements vary from state to state
  •  

 PRAXIS II (Principles of Learning and Teaching, or PLT)

  • Test of pedagogical knowledge and skills (usually taken during student teaching).
