Strategic Planning

Our strategic plan for the Division of Student Affairs can be summarized in four initiatives, which have implications for every department within Student Affairs. Our four initiatives are based on Student Affairs being student centered and learning focused and have been developed to build upon our strengths, address our weaknesses, and leverage our future growth:

Strategic Initiative 1: Student Learning in Multiple Contexts

Strategic Initiative 1: A Distinctive Student Experience

  2. Contact Dr. Evette Castillo Clark to let her know that your project has been submitted:  castillo@tulane.edu.
  3. You will be contacted with any questions and/or an approval; revision; delay; or denial response.  If approved:  Submit your project officially on the StudentVoice website:  http://studentvoice.com and click "Request a Project."
  4. Dr. Evette Castillo Clark will then connect you with the appropriate StudentVoice consultant to begin working with you on your project.

Requesting a Custom Research Project:

The purpose of the Education Advisory Board is to study and communicate best practices for elevating student affairs performance and its role within the larger university.  Research staff will conduct original, short-answer studies on any topic related to student affairs.  The approach is to find and profile the most progressive or successful practice and report back with sufficient detail for us to be able to implement the practice at Tulane.  To request a Custom Research Brief or a quick turnaround research project, please click this link for an application:

Tulane University Student Affairs Assessment Council (TUSAAC)

The Division of Student Affairs provides data about Tulane University students, parents, their experiences, and the campus environment, which inform strategic planning and division initiatives.
This is accomplished through collaborative partnerships with a variety of internal and external units:

  • Provost’s Office
  • Office of Institutional Research
  • StudentVoice, Inc.
  • Educational Benchmarking, Inc. (EBI)
  • Outside the Classroom
  • Higher Education Research Institute
  • Core Institute

The purpose of TUSAAC is to:

  1. Guide division-wide assessment projects (planning, reporting, evaluating).
  2. Monitor assessment activities.
  3. Provide feedback to departments on their assessment plans and activities.
  4. Encourage collaborative assessment projects across the campus, and one that includes students in assessment.
  5. Assist with assessment training and create professional development opportunities for colleagues.
  6. Ensure that a structure is in place that will produce a common data reporting structure, that all departments have assessment plans and are implemented, that results are reported and shared division-wide, and that results are analyzed and applied to improve programs and services.
  7. Advance our own assessment learning as a council and strive to be a best practice community.
