Parents as Partners

Office-of-Parent-programs-logoWelcome to the Office of Parent Programs. Part of the Department of Orientation and Student Transitions, Parent Programs support your needs as a Tulane parent or family member. In addition to parent information sessions at New Student Orientation each summer, we organize parent events during the first weekend of Welcome Week in August and during Family Weekend at Homecoming in the fall. We will keep you well-informed through a variety of different communication mechanisms ranging from information sessions and receptions on campus to periodic e-newsletters and web-based presentations throughout the academic year.

At Tulane, we believe that parents and family members are valuable partners in the success of our students.  This means that we will commit to providing valuable, timely information both online and in person; we will work with you to investigate and navigate institutional resources which you can coach your Tulane student with; and we will provide advice and guidance when needed regarding the transition to life in college or critical issues impacting your student's experience.  Because we see you a a partner in the education of your student, we will ask that you coach and support without doing-for your Tulane student.  Working together we can provide a dynamic support system for your family and see your Tulane student succeed.

For those of you who are new to Tulane University, we invite you to utilize our Pelican Partners, a group of experienced Tulane parents who volunteer to answer your questions via e-mail. These parents are eager to assist you in your role as a parent of a new Tulane student.  The Pelican Partners program is also a great way for parents to get involved with the Tulane community as a volunteer.

If you have any questions, please phone us toll free at 877–TUP–WAVE (877-887-9283) or e-mail parents@tulane.edu.
