The mission of the Office of Orientation and Student Transitions is to welcome new undergraduate students and their families to campus, introduce them to resources and facilitate relationships necessary for a successful transition to university life. Our programs help students and families learn about the University's academic expectations and opportunities for learning both in and out of the classroom.
The Office of Orientation and Student Transitions is responsible for coordinating all phases of Summer Orientation for new students in June; the NOLA Experience in August; Fall Welcome Week, including events for transfer students, in August and Spring Orientation in January. The office also houses Parent Programs including the Parent-Family Weekend held each fall.
Recognizing the influential role peers play in helping students adjust to their new community, we select, train and supervise over 120 student leaders and volunteers who serve as the Orientation Planning Team and Orientation Coordinators.
