Mission Honduras raised over $20,000 in 2010 for the construction of a health clinic in the aldea of La Fortuna and the training of two villagers to become nurses for the clinic. Donations of vitamins, medications and other supplies are brought to the clinic monthly.

Mission Honduras is a bi-annual student-run service trip to San Pedro Sula, Honduras and the aldeas of the Merendon Mountains. The trip involves around thirty students who work year-round with the Misioneros de Esperanza of San Pedro Sula to bring sustainable changes to the lives of the people of Merendon. Though the trip is an extension of the Catholic Center at Tulane, Mission Honduras is open to members of all faiths; what matters most is that each team member is passionate about serving others.

In Hebrew — the language of Jesus — there is no word for charity. Only justice. And justice is what we strive to provide to the people of Merendon and San Pedro Sula through improved health care and education and personal visitations. Through work projects, community programming and simply spending time with individuals, we strive to foster a lifestyle for Hondurans in which they do not have to deal with the injustice of struggling with problems that have been solved elsewhere centuries before.

While our goal is completely focused on the Hondurans we visit, all of our missionaries are forever changed. This is but a welcomed benefit of our higher mission to promote a better world outside of ourselves.
