"Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love..." -Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service is an annual one-day service event for New Orleans college students (Dillard, Loyola, Xavier, Tulane and others), as well as the universities' faculty, staff, alumni and their families. In the Aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the need for the campus communities to serve as leaders in the rebuilding of New Orleans is greater than ever. Through the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, we seek to build a stronger community by working together to provide needed assistance to local schools, and non- profit community organizations. Service opportunities are broad and varied and impact a number of issues including: wetland restoration, energy efficiency, school & neighborhood revitalization, celebration of the arts & local culture, and more. Staging for this event will take place in the Lavin Bernick Center on Tulane University's campus on January 17th at 8:00 am.
We have over 20 different service projects to choose from! Click here to check out the project descriptions.
