Academic Opportunities

Currently, there is no Queer Studies major or minor offered at Tulane. There are, however, a number of ways for students interested in issues of sexual orientation and gender identity to explore them in their academic work.

  • Enroll in Women's Studies courses. While women's studies and queer studies are not synonymous, there is often overlap in these two areas.   • Earn credit by working with the Office of Multicultural Affairs-Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Life.

  • Do an independent study with a queer-friendly professor. There are faculty members in many departments that have expertise in areas related to gender/sexuality. Need help finding them? Contact Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Life for help find a faculty member who specializes in your area of interest.

  • Use queer resources available on campus to help with your academic research:
