- The Ron Brown Scholarship
The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. A minimum of ten students will receive $10,000 annually for four years. Deadline November 1.
- The Jackie Robinson Foundation
Through its Education and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides 4-year scholarships of up to $7,500 annually to minority high school seniors showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice. Deadline March 30.
- United Negro College Fund Scholarships
This site has over 25 scholarships/internships for entering college students and currently enrolled college students. As many of the UNCF scholarships require that the scholarship recipient apply for Federal Student Aid, it is recommended that applicants complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
- Gates Millennium Scholarship
The Gates Millennium Scholarship provides outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete a college education in any discipline area of interest. The renewable scholarship covers room, board and tuition for at least 1,000 high school students a year. Deadline January.
- National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) Scholarships
The society offers a variety of scholarship and award opportunities to our pre-college, undergraduate and graduate students, and technical professional members. Our scholarship packages range in value from $500 to $6,500. We also provide access to awards which acknowledge our highest achieving members, such as the Mike Shinn Distinguished Member of the Year Award with a cash award of $7,500. Primarily for engineering students and others majoring in related disciplines. Deadlines vary.
