The Tulane faculty in the School of Science and Engineering are starting an outreach program called GIST for 5th to 7th grade girls to have positive experiences with women role models in STEM fields. We are organizing a Saturday event hosted by Tulane faculty and students on March 29, 2014 and another one in Fall 2014.

The event will begin at 8:30am with a sign-in and fun science activities led by Tulane undergrads. Participants will then get together in small groups and visit three different labs where they will do workshops in STEM fields led by Tulane faculty, post-docs and graduate students. We will provide lunch, snacks, and a t-shirt. The day will wrap up by 3pm.

We will soon be posting more information about the titles and topics of the workshops, but all of them are guaranteed to be great opportunities to work with women and girls in science.
