SSE Graduate Studies Committee Meeting

September 24, 2007

Minutes 

Present: McPherson (ex-officio), Tasker (chair), Cserjesi, Fink, Gaver, Johannesson, Lockman, O’Connor, Perdew, and Rosencrans. Dean's office representatives: Longlois, Orrill, and Taylor.

Absent: Dyer, Smilinach

McPherson called the meeting to order at 12:00 p.m. and started discussing the 3 main topics for the meeting.

General Discussion

• First topic of discussion was the Guideline and Policies for Graduate Assistants. Several changes were discussed. These changes will be made and sent to the committee for final approval.
  
• Ricardo Cortez joined the committee meeting for the second topic of discussion concerning the proposal for the 4+1 academic program by the Center of Computational Science. Corrections were discussed by the committee. Cortez will make these corrections and submit the final proposal for approval at a later date.
  
• Before leaving Tasker asked to step down as the Chair of the committee. McPherson said he will choose a new chair before the next meeting.

The meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.
