Are You a Potential Major?
Are you intrigued by our planet Earth, enjoy solving mysteries, love the outdoors, and want to make a difference in our environmental future? The Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences offers the following:
- A wide range of courses from the traditional geology courses on rocks, fossils and minerals to courses on coastal environment, natural disasters, river systems, sedimentary environments, and so forth.
- Field trips to local and regional areas of interest which provide on-sight learning and enhance concepts being presented in class.
- Undergraduate research, where students are encouraged to work with faculty. Such research may be taken for credit or may lead to a completion of a senior thesis.
- Access to many labs including physical geology, earth history, mineralogy, environmental analysis and our own computer lab loaded with the latest software. We also have a GeoWall, a 3d steroscopic visualization used for geoscience research.
