Guest speakers included: John Pojeta (Smithsonian), Rebecca Freeman (Univ. of Kentucky), Shuhai Xiao (Virginia Tech) and Ron Parsley (Tulane).
After the symposium, a well-attended reception/alumni party was held in Woodward Way, Woldenberg Art Center. The evening concluded with a brilliant firework display.

The annual Earth and Environmental Sciences Alumni Party was held Friday, November 14, 2014 in conjunction with Tulane’s Homecoming. Department Chair, Torbjörn Törnqvist greeted alumni, faculty, graduate students, staff and visitors gathered in Cudd Hall. The celebration was adorned with food, beverages and entertainment and enjoyed by all.

Over 60 people enjoyed food, beverages and visiting with friends on the outside patio adjacent to Blessey Hall. Department Chair, Torbjörn Törnqvist, welcomed everyone. The night ended with a fireworks display over the LBC quad.

In conjuction with Tulane's Homecoming and Family Weekend, the annual Geology alumni party was held on Friday, October 21, 2011 on the outside patio adjacent to Blessey Hall. Over 70 people attended the catered event. Department Chair, Stephen Nelson, welcomed each alum.
The annual Geology alumni party was held on Friday, October 8, 2010 in conjunction with Tulane's Homecoming. Over 60 people attended the event, which was held on the patio adjacent to Blessey Hall. The weather was perfect, one of those New Orleans evenings you wish you could bottle and keep. Department Chair, Stephen Nelson, welcomed each alum. Everyone enjoyed the food, beverages and visiting with friends.
The department of Earth and Environmental Sciences hosted a reception for alumni at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Convention which was held in New Orleans in April, 2010.
The Geology alumni party took place on Friday, October 9, 2009, in conjunction with Tulane's Homecoming. The rain did not hinder everyone from having a good time, enjoying good food and seeing old friends. Steve Nelson gave a tour of the facilities which included the department's new research labs.
This was the first Geology alumni party held at the department's new location, Blessey Hall. Everyone enjoyed the catered meal on the outside patio and visiting with friends.
