Dr. Abboud coordinates the undergraduate teaching labs and provides support for the Professors and TAs that teach the CMB lectures and labs. Research interests include: 1) Antibody Engineering: Understanding antibody-antigen binding interactions, development of antibody-based biosensors for bio-remediation, developing strategies for designing and selecting novel high-affinity antibodies using phage display; 2) Kaposi’s Sarcoma Herpesvirus: Mechanisms of KSHV vGPCR-induced angiogenesis and tumorigenesis; understanding the influence of inflammation on the maintenance of a cancer phenotype; understanding how KSHV infection promotes evasion of apoptosis in endothelial cells.

John has been with the department for 18 years and brings with him a vast array of institutional knowledge to his job. He can answer just about any question dealing with university administration and student affairs. He handles all personnel and payroll issues for the department, as well as manages the department budgets, including faculty grant awards. He assists undergraduate and graduate students with curriculum and registration questions, as well as certifies undergraduates for graduation. Marnie manages the department office. She administers the Graduate student application process and assists the Director of the One Year Master’s program. She also administers the interviewing and hiring of work study students for the department. She assists students with registration, transfer credit, curriculum questions, and assigns advisors to students as well as. She also coordinates department seminars.
