Population Dynamics in Migratory Networks
I propose the idea of linking multiple breeding and multiple wintering sites for migratory birds into a network of sites and develop population models on these networks. I examine the effects of habitat loss and habitat fragmentation in the network and develop graph-theoretic metrics that can be used to predict population size and likelihood of persistence in the network. I discuss the application of these models to real species and to the spread of disease in migratory bird populations.
