Sam Huffman is a senior analyst in the Par Loan Sales & Trading Group specializing in leveraged loan research. Banc of America Securities is one of the leading domestic arrangers of syndicated corporate loans. He is currently director of the group’s research analyst team and has coverage responsibility for the aerospace & defense, chemicals, energy & utilities, healthcare and general industrial sectors.
Huffman began his career at NationsBank in 1988 as a money market trader. From 1989 through 1992, he managed the bank’s repurchase agreement funding desk and trading book. In 1993, he joined NationsBanc Capital Markets as a proprietary interest rate trader. From 1994 until 1998, he was a proprietary emerging markets debt trader focusing on Latin America. In 1999, he joined Banc of America Securities’ Credit Fixed Income group as a high yield debt research analyst where he covered the aerospace & defense and chemicals industries. He has been in his current position since 2001.
Huffman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Tulane University in 1986. He earned his master of business administration degree in finance and real estate from Columbia Business School in 1988.
Huffman is married to the former Marilyn Sharp of Rock Hill, South Carolina. They and their three children reside in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they are members of the First Presbyterian Church. Huffman has served as a Sunday school teacher and is a youth coach in both the Myers Park Trinity Little League and Dowd YMCA Basketball League.
