Fran Heller joined Bristol-Myers Squibb in 2012 as senior vice president, Business Development. In that role, Fran oversees the execution of the Company's strategy of finding external partners and innovation. Prior to joining Bristol-Myers Squibb, Fran was executive vice president, Business Development at Exelixis where she accomplished several large, company-transforming transactions. Prior to that Fran was head of Strategic Alliances at Novartis Pharmaceuticals where she was responsible for transactions with partners in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry as well as academic institutions worldwide. Previously she was Corporate and Intellectual Property counsel for Celera Genomics.
Fran serves on the board of directors of several biotech companies and universities, is a Trustee at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and teaches a business class at Stanford University on the biotech and pharmaceutical industry. Fran is a member of the California State Bar, is licensed by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and has a B.S. in biology from Tulane University, an M.A. in biology from American University and J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law.
