A MESSAGE FROM THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR
The Tulane Center for Advanced Medical Simulation and Team Training was developed to be a center that goes beyond training individuals how to perform procedures. Beyond team training and communication. The Center enables training and education of an entire system within a hospital—the type of training that maximizes the effect on healthcare quality and patient safety.
The Center will help Tulane achieve these goals of healthcare quality and safety, not just for Tulane but for healthcare locally, regionally and nationally. Not just for physicians, but for all healthcare professionals: physicians, nurses, pharmacists and technicians.
Every aspect of a healthcare system can be simulated in the Center. We have doctor's office exam rooms, a nursing station, hospital patient rooms, an OR, a labor and delivery suite and a multi-bed ER. In collaboration with the Tulane Standardized Patient program, where actors perform as patients, the Center will develop simulation training and evaluation by video capture that enhances the healthcare quality and patient safety of any hospital.
