Rural Rotations – Expand 3rd and 4th year medical student clerkship and elective opportunities in community-based rural practices.
Rural Preceptor Recruitment and Support – Recruit rural preceptors, prepare and sustain their teaching role, and offer adjunct faculty benefits.
Tulane Rural Immersion Program (TRIP) – Offer a select group of third-year medical students the opportunity to reside in a rural Louisiana community and train in that setting while also applying a public health focus to their education.
Program (TRuMEd) – Identify, recruit, and admit academically qualified medical students with rural backgrounds, and who intend to practice in rural medicine.
College Partnerships – Partner with rural universities and colleges to identify and recruit academically qualified rural students into Tulane.
Student Financial Support – Develop, fund, and leverage resources to provide and/or guide medical students who are committed to future rural primary care practice towards scholarships and other forms of financial support.
Community Projects – Explore and develop opportunities for medical and public health students to work with partnering rural communities in developing assessments and/or programs that meet the health needs of the community.
