This session will discuss the complexity of hospitalized patients and the day-to-day issues that arise on inpatient services making teaching in the hospital as challenging as it is unique.

By the conclusion of this session, hospital-based educators will be given tools and techniques to:
1. Establish and communicate goals and expectations for students/residents/fellows
2. Integrate techniques to augment the efficiency and effectiveness of daily rounds
3. Enhance learner retention by using illustrations, analogies, and the Socratic method
4. Coach learners in the science of clinical reasoning, communication, time management, and interpersonal relationships.

Dr. Wiese will be signing copies of his book titled “Teaching In The Hospital” before and after the presentation.
