Dr. Buddy Savoie, professor of clinical orthopaedics in the department of orthopaedics, will participate in the 2012 American Academy Orthopaedic Surgeons annual meeting in San Francisco this month. His presentation, “Current Controversies in Shoulder Surgery,” will stream live to participations through the AAOS Web site.
Romy Vargas, senior program coordinator, and Kelly Branford, program coordinator, both working in the Standardized Patient Program, have successfully completed the requirements to become Certified MammaCare Specialists. MammaCare is the recognized standard for teaching and performing clinical breast examinations in breast cancer screening clinics. According to Dr. Elma LeDoux, medical director of the Standardized Patient Program, this certification will be valuable as Tulane moves to the Community Care clinical model and becomes even more vested in patient education. Vargas and Branford will be able to train Tulane medical students and residents to perform comprehensive breast exams.
