Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras (French for "Fat Tuesday") in New Orleans is unlike any other celebration you will experience. During the two weeks prior to Mardi Gras day, there is usually a nightly parade which has been organized by a krewe. Riding elaborate floats designed to follow the parade theme for that year, float riders toss throws to the crowds that line the streets, including beads, doubloons, and cups. Be sure to enjoy a piece of king cake, but hope you don't get the baby! (see the lagniappe section for more information)
