Nurse Specialist

Phaidra Floyd-Browning is a Registered Nurse, specializing in Newborn Screening and Inherited Disorders of Metabolism (IDM).  She received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1998. Phaidra joined Tulane University-Hayward Genetics in 2008 as the Newborn Screening Coordinator and Project Manager for the Emergency Preparedness and Telegenetics portions of the Region 3 Southeast Regional Collaborative (HRSA; 2007-2012).  Prior to moving to New Orleans, Phaidra worked as the Alabama Newborn Screening Coordinator for Inherited Disorders of Metabolism at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).  She also served as the clinic nurse for the Sparks-Metabolic Clinic at UAB.  Other previous experience includes Maternal/Child nursing, with an emphasis on Perinatal nursing.  She participates in several professional organizations, including the International Society of Nurses in Genetics (ISONG), Society for Inherited Metabolic Disorders (SIMD), Southeast Regional Genetics Group (SERGG), and International Society for Neonatal Screening (ISNS).
