PhD in Biomedical Sciences

The Hayward Genetics Program trains students to become scientists who can be researchers, educators, and providers of clinical services. The objectives of this program include: training qualified individuals for careers in the various disciplines of human genetics; preparing graduates for eligibility for the American Board of Medical Genetics examination; and providing an education that integrates basic genetics, clinical genetics, and related areas of basic and clinical human biology.

All biomedical graduate programs are now administered through the Tulane Medical School, Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences. Though our department does not offer a separate PhD degree in Human Genetics, students who decide to pursue a PhD in Biomedical Sciences will have the option to specialize in Human Genetics after their first year. For more information on the PhD program and application process, visit the Biomedical Sciences Application Information page.
