General Medical Faculty By Laws: Article II - Meetings of GMF

  1. Meetings:
  1. There shall be at least two regularly scheduled meetings of the General Medical Faculty to be called by the Chairman during each academic semester.
  1. Special meetings shall be called by the Chairman:
  1. Upon the receipt of a request signed by 10 members of the voting General Medical Faculty; or
  2. At the request of a majority of the Advisory Committee of the General Medical Faculty.
  1. Under extraordinary circumstances, the Chairman, without consultation with the Advisory Committee, may call a special meeting of the General Medical Faculty, but only for the purpose of transmitting urgent information to the members. No major business may be transacted at such extraordinary meetings.
  1. A quorum for a meeting of the General Medical Faculty shall be 25% of the voting members of the General Medial Faculty, except that to disapprove actions of the Dean and Executive Faculty, a quorum of 35% of the voting members of the General Medical Faculty shall be required.
  1. All proceedings of the General Medical Faculty shall be conducted according to Robert's Rules of Order (revised) insofar as they are not inconsistent with any provisions of the Constitution and By-Laws.
  1. Unless otherwise requested by a member of the voting General Medical Faculty, voting shall be by open ballot.
  1. In the event of a secret ballot, the Chairman shall appoint three members of the voting General Medical Faculty to serve as tellers and to report the results of the ballot to the Chairman.
  1. In the event that a member of the voting General Medical Faculty cannot attend a called meeting of the General Medical Faculty, at any time prior to the meeting the member may obtain from the Secretary of the General Medical Faculty a ballot on which shall be printed the resolution to be voted upon at the meeting. He shall vote in the presence of an officer of the General Medical Faculty. These absentee ballots will contribute to the final totals at the called meeting.
